Grant: Cultivating a Community of Culturally Diverse Minds
School: Marion Elementary
In coordination with the DFW International Organization, 6th graders had the opportunity to experience the music, dancing, storytelling and artifacts from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. These performances helped enhance their learning experience as they studied World Cultures in their Social Studies classes.
Grant: Destination Wings
School: Allen High School
Through this grant, Allen High School students were able to visit four schools this year: the University of Texas at Arlington, SMU, Collin College and Texas A&M Univ – Commerce. After visiting the campus, 93% said they thought the campus they visited was a good fit for them, and 91% said that after visiting, they planned to apply to the school.

This great PowerPoint highlights the Science on the Move grant from Bolin, which allowed sixth grade students to design, implement, and teach fun science experiments to younger students.
Grant: Anderson's Sprouting Stars Garden
School: Anderson Elementary
Anderson Elementary students learned all about planting and growing vegetables and developed recipes that incorporated their harvested vegetables. In partnership with AISD's Student Nutrition Department and Anderson's PTA, students grew and tasted their own produce through Farm Fresh Friday and learned about healthy eating options.

School: Rountree Elementary
In Literature Circles with 1st and 2nd Graders - Take 2, Story Elementary students developed a love of literature through shared reading, discussion and critical thinking about the literature they read.

School: Rountree Elementary
Rountree students took a field trip to Young Chef's Academy to learn about healthy eating and how to bake make their own healthier pizza! This grant is to help students learn health and wellness practices, advocate for health and wellness in their school and community, explore health and wellness careers, and prepare students for future leadership positions
Grant: Blazers' Book Club
School: Bolin Elementary
The Blazers' Book Club is a group of students who meet together to discuss engaging, student selected text. Each student is provided with their own copy of the book so that they are able to read at home. By discussing these texts with their peers, students will be more engaged in reading and will be exposed to new ideas and ways of thinking.
Grant: Math Domains: Bridging the School to Home Connection in Mathematics
School: Boyd Elementary
Students were assigned bags of tools and math games that reflected the different strands of math they practiced at home. Students then were required to write their findings in journals, therefore enhancing their writing and numeracy skills.
Grant: LEGO Brain POWER!
School: Cheatham Elementary
Cheatham AIM students use LEGO kits as math manipulatives, to construct words in phonics, experiment with simple machines, use LEGO's online design sites to build and produce movies, and many more entertaining ways to build, with education always in mind!
Grant: Camp Write About It!
School: Green Elementary
Green 4th grade students practiced writing TEKS as they moved from "campground to campground" in each classroom. At the end of the day, campers will have composed an expository essay by taking their piece through the complete writing process. This includes practicing editing and revising skills, grammar lessons, and creating a Camper's Scrapbook of their learning.

"Our kindergarten team used our books and science kits to enrich our science lessons. The children will continue to use the manipulatives to conduct experiments that correspond to our TEKS. We have shared all of the resources, ideas and supplies with each member of our team. Our Kindergarten Team has six teachers, and the things that we purchased added a lot to our lessons. The children loved the hands-on materials and experiments!"
Small Scientist Grant Evans Elementary
"This grant enabled me to purchase an additional 180 books for our guided reading library. Students in grades K-6 benefit from these books. Students were highly engaged as they enjoyed the texts and were able to compare/contrast information between the two books. Reluctant readers became more engaged...it impacted a large number of students and provided an easy resource for teachers to pull high interest texts in both fiction and nonfiction genres. Students were able to use higher level thinking skills to compare the similarities and differences between the texts."
Pick A Pair of Pair-It Books Grant Anderson Elementary
"The greatest impact I saw was the excitement of the students as they watched the plants begin to grow. There was much discussion, questioning and sharing of information throughout this project. Because of the hands-on nature of this grant, the students really got involved in their learning. It seemed that some of the students had never really “played” in the dirt before, or saw real live grub worms, or earthworms. What fun!"
