Welcome to the Chandler Library

Welcome to the Chandler Library website! In addition to our collection of books, we have ebooks and audiobooks available for students too!

To search the Chandler library catalog, log in to portal.allenisd.org and then open Destiny Discover. Directions are available.

More than 12,000 print items and numerous databases and digital items are available for use. We have scheduled check out for grades kindergarten through third grade. Our library resource center has an open-access policy for students in grades third through sixth. Students are welcome to come to the Library Center at any time it is open (8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. closed for lunch 11:20 to 11:50 a.m.). We are an integrated library that serves as an extension of the classroom.

We encourage our students and teachers to be innovators, collaborators, and creators. We embrace design thinking by providing maker space opportunities.

Policies & Procedures

All students have access to a large selection of ebooks and audiobooks through Chandler's library.  Visit our ebook and audiobooks information page to learn more.

General Information

  • All books are checked out for two weeks.

  • Kindergarten and first-grade students may check out one book

  • Second, third, and fourth-grade students may check out two books

  • Fifth and sixth-grade students may check out three books

Students may place holds on books using Destiny Discover and the book will be checked out to the student when it is their turn in the hold line. Please be patient when waiting for a popular book with many holds and find other available books to read.

Note: Ebooks and audiobooks are tracked separately and do NOT count toward the above totals.

Allen ISD Elementary Lost and Damaged Books Policy

If a student loses or damages a library book, the student is responsible for paying for that book. We are happy to work with families who may be unable to pay for replacement books. If a lost book that was paid for is found, please return the book to the library and a refund will be issued if the book is in good condition. Refunds will gladly be issued during the same school year the book was lost.  However, we will be unable to refund lost book money after the last day of the school year that the book was lost.
