Level Changes Requests for Spring 2025
Allen ISD Advanced Academics states that it takes students up to six weeks to acclimate and adapt to an Advanced course. If your child has been attending tutoring, asking the teacher for help, studying and reviewing notes/assignments at home but is still feeling overwhelmed and struggling in their Advanced course, a parent can request for their child to move to on-level.
If your child is currently in an on-level course but would like to move to an Advanced course in English, science, or history, a parent can request for their child to move to Advanced.
Level Change Information:
What is a level change? A student moving from Advanced to on level or on level to Advanced in science, social studies, or English.
What about a level change in math? Students can only move from Advanced to on level. Students must qualify based on criteria from the previous school year in order to be placed in Advanced math. There will be no requests accepted for students to move from on level to Advanced math.
When can level changes occur? The window for requesting a level change is December 3rd at 8am and closes at 5pm on December 12th, 2024. No level change requests will be considered after that time.
How do I request a level change? A parent/guardian must fill out the form. Requests submitted by students will not be accepted. Please click on this link to fill out the form. Request form Click HERE
Approved level changes are binding for the remainder of the school year. Students may not switch back to an advanced course that they’ve leveled down from. The grade from the leveled course will travel with the student to the new course if approved.
Changing one course may affect the arrangement of other courses on a student’s schedule. The student’s other teachers, class periods, and/or assigned lunch can change as a result of academic level changes. Students who are approved to Level Change will have their schedule updated with their new classes and will start their new schedule on January 7th, 2025.
