Allen ISD recently held a groundbreaking of the new Multi-Purpose Complex building. The event was attended by students, Project Kids committee members, board members, district leadership, staff, local officials, and more.
This project and the renovation of the existing Activity Center, both approved by voters in the 2024 bond election, reflect the district’s continued investment in student-centered environments.
Allen ISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Bullock addressed the audience and underscored the potential of these enhancements.
“At the heart of both facilities is opportunity,” said Dr. Bullock. “Most importantly, facilities like these allow our students to take on new challenges, discover new passions, and build the skills they need for success in college, career, or military.”
Dr. Bullock noted that the renovation and the new complex will broaden scheduling options and better accommodate programs like athletics, fine arts, and JROTC. With 120 yards of usable indoor space, multiple organizations can use the facility at the same time. Additionally, there will now be an indoor space that can accommodate the Allen Escadrille, comprised of the band, drill team, and color guard.
Board of Trustees President Dr. Polly Montgomery celebrated the importance of community collaboration in making sure these opportunities exist for students.
“This project was included in the 2024 bond election, and it passed because our community came together to support it,” Dr. Montgomery said. “The new Multi-Purpose Complex represents more than a building; it represents what happens when a community comes together to ensure students have the spaces and resources they need to succeed.”
Allen High School senior and Student-Athlete Leadership Team member Kayley Parker shared a student perspective on current facilities.
“If it’s too hot, too cold, or rainy, you’ll have several teams trying to work out on the indoor turf at the same time,” Kayley said. “It can get pretty cramped.”
Kayley thanked voters, saying, “You are helping build a better future for us, and for the students who will come after us.”
Allen High School senior and Drum Major for the Allen Escadrille Colin Roach spoke on behalf of fine arts programs.
“For two and a half weeks, the band rehearses in 100-degree weather,” Colin said. “That is why this new Multi-Purpose Complex means so much.”
“This building will help so many programs,” Colin said, “and it will help students be the very best they can be.”
The Multi-Purpose Complex building was approved by voters in the 2024 Bond and is expected to open in January 2027.
