Lois Lindsey

Lindsey Elementary School namesake, Lois Lindsey, is a former Allen ISD teacher and School Board Member. A native of Huron, Ohio, Mrs. Lindsey taught school for more than 42 years. She began her career teaching in Huron with a bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University and a master’s degree in education from Kent State University. She continued teaching there for 19½ years before moving to Clear Lake, Texas, where she taught in the Pasadena ISD. After a year of teaching in Pasadena, she moved with her family to Allen. 

During her career, she taught first, third, fifth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grades. However, her entire career in Allen ISD was spent at Reed Elementary School where she taught first grade for 23 years, retiring in 2006. She won a 2007 election for the Board of Trustees and served for six years. She is an active member of the Allen Retired Teachers Association.

Lindsey is the mother of six daughters and has nine grandchildren. Following in her footsteps, five of her daughters have been or are currently teaching and the other has worked as a teacher’s aide.
