Acting Superintendent Kim McLaughlin 2026

The Allen ISD Board of Trustees named Kim McLaughlin the Acting Superintendent during a meeting on May 14. Mrs. McLaughlin will begin as Acting Superintendent on June 1 and serve as a transitional leader between the retirement of Dr. Bullock and the search for a long-term superintendent of the school district. Mrs. McLaughlin most recently served as the district’s Deputy Superintendent, a role she held since 2023.

Mrs. McLaughlin has served in Allen ISD for 36 years, beginning as a sixth-grade teacher at Story Elementary in 1990. Since that time, she has held roles as an instructional designer, assistant principal, and as principal of Ereckson Middle School, Olson Elementary, and Reed Elementary. She joined the district administrative team in 2014 and has held the roles of executive director and assistant superintendent, both in the School Leadership and Support Department.

“Kim McLaughlin is a respected figure in our school district, and her steady approach to leadership will ensure Allen ISD continues its mission of realizing the potential of every learner,” said Dr. Polly Montgomery, Allen ISD Board of Trustees President. “The Board of Trustees looks forward to working alongside Mrs. McLaughlin over the coming months as we determine a path in naming a long-term replacement for superintendent.”

Mrs. McLaughlin said she looks forward to supporting the district as the acting superintendent.

“Allen ISD has been my home since 1990, and I care deeply for the students and staff of this amazing community,” Mrs. McLaughlin said. “As we head into the summer, I look forward to continuing to work with our campus principals to ensure our staff have the resources necessary to improve student outcomes. I’m grateful to the Board of Trustees for their trust placed in me, and I will support this district in any way I can as the search continues for a long-term replacement.”
