Allen ISD kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with its annual Convocation ceremony, bringing together all district staff inside Allen High School for a celebration centered around a unifying message: “This is the Greatest Show.”
The event featured student performances, district leadership addresses, exciting contests, and videos designed to celebrate the staff behind student success in Allen ISD.
District leadership Kim McLaughlin, Allen ISD Acting Superintendent, highlighted the unseen dedication of staff across all departments who are preparing campuses for students on August 13.
"When our students walk through our doors, they see a school ready to welcome them," said Mrs. McLaughlin. "What they may not see are the thousands of people who worked together to make that possible."
Student leaders guided the audience through a ceremonial program that highlighted the diverse talents across the district. Student Body President Cash Janek and Senior Class President Dorothy Ozcomert welcomed staff members and expressed appreciation for the educators who shaped their personal academic journeys from elementary school through high school.
"We are so proud to be the first to welcome you to the school year," said Cash. "We have had so many great memories inside this campus, and we are thrilled to kick off this school year with all the teachers and staff."
The program featured artistic and musical showcases by the Allen High School Choir, Allen High School Band, Cheerleaders, Tallenettes, Color Guard, Marine Corps Junior ROTC, and Pure Movement Dance Studio. Attendees also celebrated community partnerships, raffle giveaways supported by local sponsors, and a spirited competition among campus principals and staff.
"Every single person in this room is here to provide support to our students," said Mrs. McLaughlin. "Either you provide that support directly to students on the campus, or you provide support to colleagues who directly work with our students."
