Congrats to Leigh Ann Unkenholz, 2025-26 Allen ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year Award! 🏆

Leigh Ann learned of her award this morning during a surprise drop-in from admin and Trustees in front of her Theater Tech students. In Leigh Ann’s application for district teacher of the year, she said, “The impact of education goes beyond graduation. [My students] come back to tell me how they used theater in their ‘regular jobs,’ remembering that every interview is an audition. Thanks to the skills they’ve learned, not just in my class, they could discuss the importance of empathy, time management, creative problem solving, disciplined work ethic, teamwork, and enhanced communication. They come back to thank me for providing lunch, for the hug, for making them feel seen and important. Education doesn’t stop at the bell. We aren’t just teaching TEKS, we are teaching what it means to be a meaningful, contributing member of society. We may not be able to change the world, but we can change a life."
