Three Allen High School seniors from the MCJROTC program recently dedicated two full days to volunteering at the South Central Aerial Drone Championship. The event was hosted by Plano ISD and featured 72 teams representing 42 schools from six states. While many students attended the two-day competition, the Allen seniors took on essential roles to ensure the large-scale operation ran smoothly.
The volunteer responsibilities were diverse and required significant commitment throughout the more than 300 matchups held during the tournament. One student acted as the primary event emcee for the duration of the competition. This role involved managing all public announcements and maintaining high levels of engagement for the participants and spectators.
Another student provided media and historian support by capturing thousands of event photos to document the competition. The third student assisted with general event operations behind the scenes and provided necessary field support for the various teams.
The timing of this service is notable as these graduating seniors are in the final stretch of their high school careers. Although the Allen High School MCJROTC drone team did not qualify for this specific championship, these students chose to dedicate their time and energy to supporting an event for others without any requirement or direct personal gain. Their involvement served as a demonstration of leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to serving the broader community beyond their own school district.
