Ereckson Middle School is a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society which is an outgrowth of the National Honor Society. Through the years, NJHS has developed into a unique organization that recognizes outstanding middle-level students, all the while borrowing many concepts from its sister organization.

The objectives of NJHS are “to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in the nation’s secondary school students.

NJHS members will use Canvas to submit their completed service hour form. Each member must submit their service hour form through Canvas by the meeting dates below. A minimum of 12 service hours per 9-week grading period are due at each meeting.  Service hours performed in the summer may be counted for the first 9 weeks only. You are responsible for having them with you at each meeting, correctly documented on the NJHS service hour form.  If you do not have them, you can be placed on probation. 

Ereckson 7th and 8th graders who have been at EMS for at least one full semester and attained a cumulative average of at least 94% are eligible for membership in NJHS. Seventh graders who are inducted at the end of the school year will have membership during their 8th-grade year at EMS. Eighth graders who are inducted at the end of the school year and all current eighth-grade NJHS members in good standing will have their membership transferred to the Lowery Freshman Center.
