Four orchestra ensembles representing Ereckson Middle School, Curtis Middle School and Allen High School earned top-four placements in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Honor Orchestra State Finals.
The TMEA Honor Orchestra competition recognizes excellence in orchestral performance across Texas. Ensembles advance through multiple rounds of recorded adjudication before the state's highest-performing programs receive their final placements.
Ereckson Middle School earned two second-place finishes, with the Chamber Orchestra placing second in the Middle School String Division and the Symphony Orchestra placing second in the Middle School Full Division.
The Curtis Middle School Symphony Orchestra earned a fourth-place finish in the Middle School Full Division.
In the High School Full Division, the Allen High School Symphony Orchestra earned a fourth-place finish.
“These outstanding results reflect the tireless work, passion, and discipline of our student musicians, as well as the unwavering dedication of our music directors, private lessons staff, administrators and supportive parents,” said David DeVoto, Director of Orchestras for Allen High School. “To have four ensembles place at the state level in the same year is a monumental achievement for our entire community.”
Sponsored by TMEA, the Honor Orchestra selection process recognizes and promotes high standards of orchestral performance in Texas schools. Winning ensembles are honored and invited to perform at the annual TMEA Clinic & Convention in San Antonio before music educators and attendees.
