Future Ready Friday - Lydia Schertz

Future Ready Friday is a highlight of our seniors and their future plans. This highlight is about Lydia Schertz.

At Allen High School, Lydia has served as an athletic trainer for football, track, and volleyball. Lydia is also active in FFA, where years of livestock judging led to multiple state qualifications and a near full ride scholarship. As a senior, Lydia was a Communications student intern.

Lydia’s favorite memory came during the announcement of Area FFA officer positions. After being named Area 5 Reporter, the Allen FFA chapter responded with support through letters, cheers, and a strong presence. That moment reflected years of teamwork and growth.

Through Allen High School, Lydia explored agriculture, leadership, and communication. Courses and activities provided real experience that led to recruitment from colleges and helped shape future goals.

Lydia plans to attend either Eastern Oklahoma State College or West Texas A&M to pursue a degree in animal science. The goal is to become a large animal chiropractor with a specialty in physical therapy and rehabilitation, while also minoring in agricultural communications and marketing.

Lydia encourages new students to get involved in classes and clubs that challenge them. Many of the best opportunities and friendships came from activities that pushed limits and built accountability.
