The Allen ISD Board of Trustees recognized local first responders and Allen FFA students during its October Board meeting, highlighting their service to the community and achievements at the national level.
National First Responders Day Recognition
The Board recognized first responders from the City of Allen Police Department and City of Allen Fire Department in observance of National First Responders Day.
The recognition expressed appreciation for police officers, school resource officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and others who help keep the Allen community safe.
Representing the departments were:
Jonathan Boyd, City of Allen Fire Chief
Kyle Taliaferro, City of Allen Assistant Police Chief
Students in Allen ISD’s Special Services Program created buttons and cards to thank first responders for their service. Made in student workshops and classrooms, the gifts provided an opportunity for students to give back to the community while developing independence and employment skills.
Allen FFA Earns National Three-Star Honors
The Board also recognized Allen FFA for earning a Three-Star ranking in the 2026 National Chapter Award Program.
The distinction is the highest rating awarded by the National FFA Organization and places Allen FFA among the top 10 percent of chapters nationwide.
The award recognizes FFA chapters that provide educational growth opportunities and encourage members to apply their learning. Allen FFA earned the distinction by meeting national program standards and implementing a Program of Activities that supports student development.
Allen FFA members were recognized at the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis. During the Board meeting, students shared information about the award and the work involved in earning the distinction.
Allen FFA advisors are Stacy Schertz and Grant Brill.
Congratulations to Allen FFA on this outstanding national achievement, and thank you to our local first responders for their continued dedication to keeping our schools and community safe. Allen ISD is proud to recognize the accomplishments and service of both groups!
