Theatre Students Create Six Original Plays at Play in a Day Festival

Allen ISD theatre students created six original 10-minute plays during the second annual Play in a Day Festival on October 29. Students wrote, rehearsed, and produced the plays in a single day before performing for a full house in the Allen High School Black Box Theatre.

The festival brought together students from Allen High School, Lowery Freshman Center, and Curtis, Ereckson, and Ford Middle Schools. This year's theme, "Colors of the Rainbow," challenged each group to draw a color and develop an original story around it.

Students handled every aspect of their productions, from writing scripts and rehearsing to designing costumes, lighting, sound, and sets. They also prepared programs and practiced scene changes before taking the stage that evening.

Middle school students had the opportunity to work alongside high school theatre students, sharing ideas and learning more about the experiences available as they continue in the program.

The festival highlighted the creativity of Allen ISD theatre students as they worked together to bring six original stories to the stage in just one day!
