ESSER III Funding 2023
Allen ISD applied to the Texas Education Agency and was awarded Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief III (ESSER III) funds under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. The total amount of funds allocated is $8,617,949. The intent and purpose of the funding are to sustain the safe operation of schools and address student learning needs due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ESSER III funds must be spent by September 2024. Per requirements, the development of a plan for the use of these funds was made with educators and other required stakeholders. Consultation with district and campus leadership occurred to begin brainstorming possible strategies that were allowable expenditures through ESSER III funds. A stakeholder survey sought feedback to guide and support these funds' instructional and expenditure plans. A draft of the Use of Funds Plan was presented to the Board of Trustees and Community for Public Comment on July 21, 2021.
Allen ISD, in consultation with stakeholders, has identified three priority areas for the use of the ESSER III funds. These areas are:
Student Learning Needs
Increasing Campus Technology Connectivity
Health and Safety Enhancements
